Dolly Drive Free Seeding Service For Initial Upload
HDD transported to speed up Time Machine online backup
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 5, 2011 at 3:24 pmCirrus Thinking LLC, maker of the Dolly Drive cloud storage for Mac, has announced that it will provide subscribers its free Seed for Speed service on most 250 GB and higher storage plans.
The program is designed to give Mac users more immediate access to their data in the cloud.
With the seeding program, subscribers will be sent a specially prepared transport drive on which they will transfer their hard drive content. The transport drive will be returned to the Dolly Drive data center in a secure Fed Ex shipment and then uploaded directly into Dolly Drive’s cloud-based servers.
"We’ve made it easy for Mac users to overcome the biggest challenge of online backup – the time it takes to perform an initial upload of their data,” said Anthony Palermo, CEO of Dolly Drive. "Once their digital content is in the cloud, incremental backups are quick and seamless and they can immediately recover critical files.”
The Free Seeding option is available for most subscription plans over 250 GB. Users who select plans where free seeding is not included can add the service for $50.
Dolly Drive is a subscription software and online storage service designed for Apple’s Time Machine. In addition to providing Mac users offsite cloud storage directly through the Time Machine application, the application allows users to create a bootable clone of their Mac on an external hard drive for local disaster recovery. It works with Apple’s Lion and Snow Leopard platforms.
