Cowan currently serves as President and Chief Executive of Online Resources Corporation, a provider of online banking and bill payment services to financial institutions including over one-third of the top 50 U.S. banks. Prior to Online Resources Corporation, Cowan served as CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of Interwoven Inc., a provider of content management software, through to the company’s acquisition by Autonomy Corporation.

Cowan also previously served as Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Manugistics Group, Inc., and as President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of EXE Technologies, Inc. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Invensys Automation & Information Systems, a business unit of Invensys plc., and was President and Chief Executive Officer of its Wonderware business unit, where he additionally served as Senior Vice President, sales and marketing. Cowan is currently a director of Blackboard Inc.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and a Master of Science degree from Arizona State University.
