SolidFire, Inc.,
a provider of SSD primary storage systems for cloud service providers, announced that
Mark Glasgow has joined the company as vice president of worldwide sales.
Glasgow joined SolidFire
from Xiotech, where he was the
worldwide vice president of sales for the past six years. This executive
announcement follows the recent $25 million Series B funding that SolidFire received
earlier this month.
Glasgow has 20 years of sales and sales management experience
within the data storage and enterprise computing markets, and has
experience selling into large carrier-class customers, as well those deploying
both public and private cloud environments.
Under Glasgow’s
sales leadership, Xiotech refocused sales efforts towards performance-centric
solutions, driving a new storage platform to a compound annual growth
of nearly 80 percent and delivering more than 5,000 units of the new platform
to the market within a four-year period. Glasgow
also established several strategic initiatives and expanded selling
relationships with VMware, Citrix and Microsoft. Prior to Xiotech, he served as the vice president of
sales at Talk2 Technology (acquired
by PumaTech), TenFold Corporation (acquired by Devon Way) and WireCache.
"SolidFire is
solving real storage challenges for cloud providers today. I have been watching
the company for a while and I was impressed with the technology, the storage
expertise of the team, and the number of cloud providers already in its Early
Access Program," said Glasgow.
"I have already had the opportunity
to sit in on a number of SolidFire customer calls, and interest is incredibly
high. When you get to hear feedback that is so positive this early in the game,
it makes you proud to be part of the team that is delivering this product to
market."
"We began our
Early Access Program this summer and the customer feedback has been extremely
positive. With momentum and customer interest moving in the right direction, we
wanted to add an experienced executive to build and lead our sales team, and we
found that in Mark," said Dave Wright, SolidFire founder and CEO.
"Our pipeline is growing, and Mark’s
appointment will help us continue to respond to customer interest with a sales
team that can support our growth. We are pleased to have him here at SolidFire;
I know that his industry expertise and relationships are going to be extremely
important for us in the coming months."
