Bocada Teams With Quest Software

Bocada Inc. has teamed with Quest Software,
Inc. to support Quest vRanger, a purpose-built
solutions for VMware backup, replication and recovery, in order to provide
customers with greater visibility into backup results, capacity use and
performance impacts as they roll out virtual machines.

Quest’s
vRanger addresses the challenges that traditional backup applications are
simply not equipped to handle when backing up and restoring VMs. Yet studies show that even when using backup tools purpose-built for
virtualized environments, users are still often challenged by managing the
complexities of the virtual backup environment. Key challenges cited include
the ability to identify the best recovery points, manage the capacity consumed
by snapshots and backups, and identifying bottlenecks in the backup process,
especially as the number of VMs proliferate through an organization.

Bocada
Vision is a Data Protection Service Management solution focused
on addressing the complexities of backup and recovery in virtual environments.
Vision helps ensure VM recoverability by providing visibility and
analysis into VM snapshot and backup activity. Vision shows users what
resources are being used to protect VMs and whether they are optimized while
detailing the performance impact of protecting VMs.

As a
standalone module in the Bocada Prism family, Vision can be used to
independently manage virtual environments protected by solutions such as
vRanger, or it can be integrated with Bocada Prism to provide
physical and virtual data protection management for the entire backup
infrastructure.
