Quantum Corp. announced the removable disk RDX 8000 library with 8TB of capacity. The RDX 8000 library is based on BDT Media Automation GmbH‘s RDStor platform, according to BDT.

Quantum RDX 8000 with Datastor Sheild is the first removable disk library available with deduplication software, creating a powerful and affordable SMB data protection solution.

In an earnings call dated October 25, 2011, Mark Lucas, president and CEO of Imation, commenting the 3Q11 financial of the company, said:" Our RDX line for example grew 25%, driven by increasing adoption by OEMs and end users. We recently completed an agreement with OEM partner Quantum to supply its RDX 8000 hard disk storage libraries."
