Akitio announced thecompany’s second-generation personal cloud server, the MyCloud Duo.

Featuring a Web-based file browser and media player to manage and playback media files, as well as a Web portal at www.myakitio.com for remote access, the MyCloud Duo personal cloud server provides the convenience of accessing a home server in the world.

Equipped with the UPnP-AV media server, Akitio’s MyCloud Duo allows users to stream content within their local network to any available UPnP-AV and DLNA compatible devices. With the MyCloud Duo sporting a GbE connection, data can also be uploaded and shared with multiple workstations via SMB or FTP connection, similar to traditional NAS systems.

For small businesses looking to share files locally and remotely, the MyCloud Duo offers free mobile apps available for iPhone, iPad and Android devices to manage and view files directly on mobile devices.
