Kove and ParAccel Team
To provide database cloning and recovery
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 24, 2011 at 2:53 pmKove and ParAccel, Inc. announced a
joint solution available on Dell’s PowerEdge servers and Kove XPD2 Storage that
enables near instantaneous analytic database duplication.
The solution combines
the analytic platform and the high-performance DRAM storage
with Dell’s enterprise server. The Kove-ParAccel database duplication
solution enables the rapid delivery of an analytic sandbox clone that can be
used by business analysts, or a quick provisioning clone for development and
test in traditional on-premise environments.
"The collaboration between ParAccel and Kove
using Dell servers will enable innovative use cases for our powerful analytics
platform, including the ability to Clone data to aid test and development of
new analytics while increasing the quality of the data mart to the business or
by deploying a parallel environment that can model an additional scenario,"
said Chuck Berger, CEO for ParAccel.
In the
cloning tests described above the XPD2 storage was mesh-connected to Dell
PowerEdge servers running the ParAccel Database at R Systems hosting facility.
Holding records for latency, IOPS, and bandwidth, Kove’s XPD2 is the
world’s fastest storage achieving the 14 fastest STAC-M3
Benchmarks ever. Kove Direct Storage Access KDSA technology outperforms all
other storage media, including flash memory and spinning disks, maintains
consistent speed at any capacity level, up to 100%, and does not degrade over
time.
"This collaboration in deploying the Kove
Xpress Memory Disk is a continuation of our leadership in high performance
storage, providing real world solutions for those who need the absolute fastest
storage available," states Kove CEO, John Overton. "The XPD2 connects directly to storage
fabrics via standard Fibre Channel and InfiniBand interconnects, while reducing
end-to-end application latency beyond any other available storage."
"With rapid data growth and requirements for
even faster analysis, customers are challenged to find more efficient ways to
solve this problem," said Bob Barris, vice president of Global Sales,
Banking and Securities at Dell. "Dell
continues to look for new ways to help enterprise database customers improve IT
efficiency and today’s demonstration reinforces that there are affordable
solutions to rapidly analyze data."
ParAccel
running on Kove storage benefits a number of real
world use cases, especially in financial service in the areas of risk, fraud,
and trading.
In risk management, stress testing does far more than simply keeping regulators at bay:
it helps executives make better strategic decisions, and determines if their
future plans will drive profits with acceptable exposure to multiple
sources of risk. The combined solution enables a centralized platform for
holistic risk analysis – across all categories of risk such Counter-Party
Credit Risk, Market Risk, etc. The ability for virtually unlimited scaling of
datasets and analytic complexity provides an unified platform for risk
assessment across the entire organization.
In trading,
the combined solution enables firms and traders to perform unconstrained
back-testing at unprecedented speeds along any dimension across the entire
dataset – ranging from TBs to PBs of trading data. The combined solution also
delivers performance for HFT (high frequency trading) platforms using standard
building blocks.
In fraud detection, ParAccel enables firms to parallel load massive amounts of data
concurrent with queries to ensure that fraud analysts have access to the most
current data, mitigating financial losses by putting the lid on
crime at the point of sale
