Syncsort DMExpress 7.0 Data Integration Software for Big Data
30% faster, tighter Hadoop integration
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 23, 2011 at 3:31 pmSyncsort Incorporated announced DMExpress 7.0, the next release of its data integration software and the foundation of the company’s ETL 2.0 approach.
Data volumes are growing faster than most organizations have the ability to deal with. As enterprises are forced to cope with larger datasets, shorter processing windows, and a variety of data sources, they are increasingly finding traditional ETL approaches to be impractical from both a technology and a cost perspective, leaving IT incapable of meeting the demands of the business.
DMExpress 7.0 addresses this challenge by extending Syncsort’s performance to deliver the speed and flexibility that ‘Big Data’ requires without compromising the consistency and integrity of data that ETL tools originally promised.
DMExpress 7.0 delivers performance at a lower TCO, stemming from its ability to process data transformations in memory and on commodity hardware. Complemented by intelligent high-performance joins and I/O optimizations, the software automatically enables operations to perform up to 30 percent faster than the previous release with no impact to hardware resources.
DMExpress 7.0 also delivers substantial cost savings by eliminating the need for staging and extra database capacity that most data integration tools require.
The new release features tighter integration with Hadoop, making it easier for organizations to shift ‘Big Data’ processing from high-end databases to a lower cost, highly-scalable environment. DMExpress 7.0 enables customers to extract data from Hadoop and other sources, as well as load data into their Hadoop environments in an efficient manner for further processing and analysis.
Customers seeking to perform data transformations in their Hadoop environments have the option to integrate DMExpress into the framework to sort, merge, copy, and aggregate data significantly faster and easier.
New bulk metadata import capabilities in DMExpress 7.0 make it simpler to accelerate existing data integration environments, generating substantial business value and ROI without needing to add costly hardware resources or undergo a complete rip and replace.
DMExpress 7.0 also features enhanced search capabilities with support for regular expressions that enable reusability of DMExpress jobs and tasks, delivering additional productivity gains.
In conjunction with the DMExpress 7.0 release, Syncsort is partnering with global systems integrators to ensure that customers benefit from an ecosystem with the skills needed to solve increasingly complex data integration challenges. Syncsort has expanded its strategic relationship with Cognizant while also formalizing alliance agreements with Accenture, Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro.
DMExpress 7.0 will be available within 60 days.
"ESG’s recent research about the impact of ‘Big Data’ on data analytics found that organizations are struggling with data integration processes that take too long, data volumes that are too large, and new data sources that are too difficult to add or integrate," said Julie Lockner, Senior Analyst and Vice President, Data Management Solutions, Enterprise Strategy Group. "With its ETL 2.0 vision and the release of DMExpress 7.0, it is clear that Syncsort is listening to customers and prioritizing their needs ahead of market hype. Solutions like DMExpress that can blend performance and scalability with resource efficiency offer tremendous potential for helping customers simplify data integration processes and reduce associated costs."
"While Syncsort’s DMExpress delivers performance that is second to none, what truly differentiates the product is how it combines this performance advantage with unmatched efficiency, scalability and ease of use," said Jeff Purcell, Principal, at BAAX, LLC. "Compared to other data integration solutions that require significant labor resources for tuning, DMExpress’ self-tuning engine enables us to more closely align valuable IT resources with business objectives. The enhancements in DMExpress 7.0 and Syncsort’s vision for ETL 2.0 will move the needle even further in enabling us to provide strategic business support that boosts bottom line results."
"Until now, many organizations have had little choice but to use highly inefficient, expensive workarounds to solve their data integration challenges, and that is not a sustainable strategy," said Mitch Seigle, Vice President, Marketing and Product Management, Syncsort. "With the DMExpress 7.0 release, Syncsort is offering enterprises a better, more cost-effective way of addressing today’s data integration challenges while simultaneously preparing for the future."
