AppAssure Backup and Replication Software in V4.7

AppAssure Software, Inc. introduced the latest version of its backup and replication software.

The AppAssure v4.7 release delivers fast backup and recovery of virtual servers including VMware, Hyper-V and XenServer as well as physical servers.

The AppAssure v4.7 includes:

• VMware vSphere/ESXi direct export support: Builds a virtual standby server on an ESXi host.
• Multi-hypervisor support: Continued leading-edge backup and replication support for VMware, Hyper-V and XenServer.
• Enhancements to Assured Recovery – technology: Volume integrity check performs an automatic verification of all volumes and data blocks in order to verify the integrity of the data which assures complete recoverability of every backup in both virtual and physical environments. Version 4.7 examines the logical sequence of each volume including the volume’s master file table, verifies the indexes for each directory on the volume, and verifies each file and directory’s security descriptors so if any inconsistencies are found, users are alerted immediately.
• Recovery console enhancement: Supports 32- and 64-bit boot disks and USB thumb drive to boot from when performing a bare-metal restore to any kind of server or dissimilar hardware.
• SMTP alerting enhancement: Sends out email alerts from any external SMTP server in the event of an email server failure.
• Enhanced 64-bit MS Exchange/Outlook 2010 support: Granular recovery of object-level items such as messages using Outlook 2010, 64-bit version.

AppAssure v4.7 includes backup and recovery technologies:

• Live Recovery – instant recovery technology with near-zero RTO and RPO.
• Assured Recovery – automatic recovery testing and verification technology assuring the recoverability of every backup in virtual and physical environments.
• Universal Recovery – cross-platform recovery that restores data volumes anywhere to anywhere, from virtual to physical, physical to virtual, virtual to virtual or physical to physical (V2P, P2V, V2V or P2P, including bare-metal recovery to dissimilar hardware); includes granular object level recovery with application-item and file-level recovery.
