Stone Computer Reselling Huawei

For storage and security to UK education market

Stone Computer Ltd.
has signed an exclusive agreement a supplier of Huawei Symantec Technologies Co.,Ltd.
storage products and security solutions to the UK education market.

The agreement
will see the Stafford-based ICT solutions provider expand its portfolio of
market-leading desktop, laptop and infrastructure brands with a suite of
storage products from Huawei Symantec, provider of network security
and storage solutions.

As a
channel-only vendor, Huawei Symantec is looking to grow its market share in the
UK public sector and has
chosen sector specialist, Stone, to leverage its expertise,
customer relationships and knowledge of the UK education market. After more
than 20 years of specialising in UK education and public sector, Stone has a reputation in this space.

Commenting
on its selection of Stone, Jon Reeves-Serby, Director of Channel Sales and
Alliances for Huawei Symantec, said: "Stone
has a proven track record in delivering excellence to the UK public sector and
education market and we were impressed by its focus to develop its storage
revenue business, adding value to its existing customer base and to grow in new
markets. We found a real meeting of minds between Huawei Symantec and Stone –
we share the same outlook on how we plan to increase our respective customer
bases and as such, we make a great partnership.
"

James Bird,
CEO at Stone, added: "Through this
exclusive partnership with Huawei Symantec, Stone now has a far broader product
portfolio, which includes both Stone branded industry-leading servers and a new
innovative storage proposition, to bring to the education market for the first
time. Huawei Symantec products are priced competitively, of high quality and
offer excellent performance and reliability. Our customers will benefit from
data storage technology that is around 40 percent more cost-effective on a
like-for-like basis, compared to other vendors in this space. We look forward
to partnering with Huawei Symantec to deliver the very best value during this
time of austerity in the education market.
"

Stone
customers will be able to purchase the entire range of Huawei Symantec products
– from entry-level data storage suitable for primary and secondary
school classrooms to enterprise-level environments, where high performance
computing solutions are needed to serve universities on large-scale research
projects. The product range includes SAN solutions, NAS and application storage systems, all of which will be implemented and supported by Stone’s engineers.

Bird
concludes: "Three years ago, the
target market for this kind of service provision would have been large colleges
and universities alone. Today however, due to the explosion of data, and
proliferation of ICT across all curriculum areas, secondary and even primary
schools are seeking some level of scalable storage solution to cope with the
huge load being placed on their infrastructure. As such, we anticipate demand
for our proposition will be high. We expect to see this partnership with Huawei
Symantec run into a million-pound business year on year.
