Areca Brings Out PCIe Dual-Core 6Gb SAS RAID Controller
With 8 to 24 internal and/or 4 external ports
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 17, 2011 at 2:56 pmAreca Technology Corporation released it’s second-generation ARC-1882 6Gb/s PCIe 2.0 SAS RAID adapters with 8-24 internal and/or 4 external 6Gb/s SAS ports.
ARC-1882ix-12/16/24 series include one DIMM socket with default 1GB of ECC Register DDR3-133 SDRAM and optional battery backup module, upgrade to 4GB. The ARC-1882i/1882x/1882LP low profile MD2 form factor adapters default support 1GB DDR3-1333 on-board memory. Those low profile adapters are for 1U/2U servers.
The ARC-1882 series line adapters have several enhancements including a new 800Mhz dual core RAID-on-Chip processor, a DDR3-1333 memory architecture, 6Gb/s SAS-2 and PCIe 2.0 x8 lanes host interface bus interconnection.
ARC-1882 series 6Gb/s SAS RAID adapters provide the capabilities for applications to achieve availability, reliability, scalability and performance. Leveraging existed RAID adapter’s technology, they provide the same customers familiar API, CLI, McBIOS manager or browser-based McRAID manager management tool to simplify the creation, monitoring and maintenance of storage configurations.
The 6Gb/s SAS RAID adapters can also provide hardware RAID levels 0, 1, 1E, 3, 5, 6, 10, 00,100, 30, 50, 60, single disk or JBOD. The 6Gb/s SAS RAID adapters support operating system including Windows 7/2008/Vista/2003/XP, Linux (Open Source), FreeBSD (Open Source), Solaris (Open Source), Mac OS X, VMware and more, along with system monitoring features such as enclosure management(SES-2, SMP,I2C & SGPIO) and SNMP function.
The dual core controllers are in stock and will be distributed in North America by Tekram USA.
