.. And Updates ExaScaler and GridScaler File Systems
Performance beyond 1TB/s
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 9, 2011 at 2:58 pmDataDirect Networks, Inc. (DDN) announced enhancements to its ExaScaler and GridScaler file storage platforms for Big Data applications, while leveraging DDN’s newly announced SFA12K series of Big Data appliances to scale with fewer systems, less data center space and less complexity than other storage platform.
"DDN technology has long been a platform of choice for organizations that need to scale far beyond conventional file system and online archive limits," said John Barr, Research Director of High Performance Computing at the 451 Group. "Today DDN has reaffirmed its position at the vanguard of the scalable systems marketplace, and as an important leader of the nascent Big Data era."
DDN’s enhancements
to its scale-out storage portfolio include:
- ExaScaler, hyperscale supercomputing storage platform powered by the Lustre file system, is now built with GUI-based file storage management tools designed to simplify and automate the management of hyperscale file storage.
- GridScaler, enterprise parallel file storage platform, is now configurable to support both Linux and Windows file system clients and scalable to support over 10PB of file system capacity in a single volume.
"More than any other company, DDN understands the unique requirements
of demanding data-intensive applications that operate at hyperscale," said Jeff Denworth, Vice President of Marketing at DataDirect Networks. "Every
day, we turn this expertise into the engineering and precision delivery
highly scalable and simple parallel file storage infrastructure. DDN is
happy to announce factory-integrated, plug-and-play systems that have
been proven in the world’s most demanding supercomputing and Big Data
environments to ensure the continued scalability of our customers’
unbounded ambition."
DDN’s ExaScaler and GridScaler offerings are factory-configured to be
installed and operational within hours of delivery and
plug-and-play-ready. With the SFA12K-20E, DDN has engineered its
In-Storage Computing system virtualization into the storage array to
eliminate the need for storage gateways and to increase ROI by reducing
the latency, complexity and expense of building parallel file storage
environments.
New SFA12K-based configurations of ExaScaler and GridScaler will be available in Q2 2012 and are available for order.
