System Online Using NetApp Syncsort Integrated Backup

To provide clients with data protection

Syncsort, Inc. announced
that System Online, a managed communications and business internet services
provider, is using the NetApp Syncsort Integrated Backup (NSB) solution. to
provide its clients with data protection.

In order to accelerate growth in its managed services
business, System Online required a single data protection solution with the
ability to backup large volumes of their customers’ data within stringent
backup windows. The company also needed a solution capable of Bare Metal Recovery
to rapidly restore their customers’ servers, mailboxes, or individual emails.

System Online is now able to meet service
legal agreements with customers including its promise of one-hour full recovery
as a standard to its managed services clients. In most cases, the company is
now able to cut recovery times from hours to only minutes utilizing NSB, which
leverages NetApp SnapVault and SnapMirror (snapshot copies and replication
technologies) to accelerate data protection.

Using NSB’s Instant Virtualization capability, System Online
is able to replicate a failed server’s architecture and map customer data to it
in less than ten minutes to generate meaningful cost savings from server
redundancy costs. For example, System Online was recently able to use NSB to
restore two terabytes of customer data in less than two minutes, something that
previously would have taken more than eight hours to complete.

NSB has also delivered an 85 percent gain in labour
efficiency for System Online in terms of the time needed to monitor its managed
services. What once required a full-time, 40 hours per week support engineer
can now be done in just five hours. As a result, System Online is able to
reinvest this resource to support other critical areas of the business
to enhance customer service.

Furthermore, System Online has used NSB to guarantee its
clients a 99+ percent backup success rate compared with the 80 percent it was
able to offer with its previous solution. This is helping to accelerate the
company’s growth by enabling System Online to target a wider market of
customers while controlling storage utilization and reducing costs by
leveraging NetApp storage efficiencies.

data protection business unit based solely on NSB.
