Data Watch Technologies: DataTale Crystal USB 3.0 HDD Enclosure

Data Watch Technologies Co., Ltd‘s DataTale RAID family of data management solutions has added the Crystal USB 3.0 3.5-inch hard drive enclosure with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.

 
Created with the USB 3.0 application, the new Crystal USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure is backward-compatible with USB 2.0 hosts. Because the maximum data speed has increased to 5 Gbit/s instead of the traditional 480 Mbit/s (60MB/s) for the old USB 2.0, it is an upgrade for rapid data speeds. The new Crystal USB 3.0 enclosure comes with a hidden LED that shines downward onto the surface for instant monitoring.  Curved rubber feet on its bottom panel stabilize the unit.
 
The Crystal enclosure provides a  housing environment for any 3.5" SATA hard drive. Its white, heat-resistant casing is an addition to the desktop while saving space. Its vertical design allows hot air to naturally flow through the top panel ventilation holes for better heat dissipation. A hard drive spin up/down feature stops the drive when the host is idle, and energy conserved through the elimination of a power switch (when the host is off, the enclosure is powered off and vice versa) result in decreased power consumption.
 
Once connected via USB cable, the host computer will automatically detect and turn on, or put the hard drive to sleep/standby. To further increase the hard drive’s life, the Crystal USB 3.0 enclosure is engineered to shut down by unplugging the USB cable, even if the A/C adapter is still plugged-in.
 
The Crystal USB 3.0 enclosure USB 3.0 technology permits data speeds of 10 times the USB 2.0, and it complies with the European Union’s green power ErP (Energy Related Products) directives.
