Thai Military Bank Upgraded IT With IBM
With z10 mainframe and XIV storage system

Military Bank Public Company Limited (TMB) has upgraded their IT system by
collaborating with IBM Thailand Co, Ltd.
By adopting IBM System
z10 and the IBM
XIV Storage System as the platform for their next-generation core banking
application system, this bank-wide project will consolidate all of the bank’s
different business units, providing a flexible and secure platform to
transform TMB into a leading bank of the future and fuel their expansion plans.
TMB saw the need to modernize their core banking systems to
improve the management of their growing data, increase customer satisfaction,
and cope with rapidly-changing market conditions. By enhancing their banking
system, TMB have improved customer experience, via their upgraded banking
services, making it easier and faster for their customers to do their banking
requirements and prepare for business expansion.
Through the adoption of IBM System z10, TMB is now supported
by a secure customer service-oriented IT infrastructure and gain a
footing to upgrade its financial operations.
IBM System z10 provides performance in terms of
stability and security.
IBM mainframe servers have long been a computing cornerstone
for large banks, insurance companies, governments and others with a need for
world-class reliability, security and ability to process huge volumes of
transactions. With this new IBM System z mainframe server, optimized for high
transaction banking workloads, TMB will also benefit from advanced systems management
features including capacity management and security to protect the bank’s data
from potential risks as the country’s appetite for traditional and more
advanced banking services continues to grow.

as bank counters, ATM, Internet, etc. as well as other online and
data-intensive workloads. The IBM System z10 will enable TMB’s core banking
system to efficiently provide 24×7 services, which will strongly support our
expansion plans."
In addition, TMB have also adopted the IBM XIV Storage
System, a disk storage designed for growth with ease of use, by eliminating the complexity of managing enterprise storage. The
IBM XIV Storage System provides performance without manual
tuning for the most demanding application workloads, while keeping TCO
low.
TMB have also installed IBM System Storage
TS7650G ProtecTIER Deduplication Gateway. Data deduplication can
extend storage capacity and will help clients manage more data with less
infrastructure, simplify information protection, while helping to reduce
operational cost and energy usage within TMB, is significant as most of the
world’s top banks, major governments and industry leaders rely on the IBM
mainframe to process everyday business transactions.

deliver premium services to its customers, helping them grow by over 35 percent
last year.
