ATP Agreement to Offer Industrial Grade DRAM and Flash Modules
10-year guarantee, based on IC from Micron Product Longevity Program
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 18, 2011 at 2:56 pmATP Electronics, Inc. announced an agreement to offer Industrial Grade DRAM and NAND flash memory modules that will include guaranteed, extended product life cycles for a minimum of 10 years.
The new memory module product line will be built by ATP and based on IC components from Micron Technology Inc.’s Product Longevity Program (PLP). The longer life cycles are intended to address the supply chain requirements of mission-critical applications such as automotive, industrial, medical, and multi-market segments that typically have project cycles of 5 or more years.
"With both NAND and DRAM technologies primarily driven by consumer applications, the rapid changes in technology have always proven to be a major supply chain challenge for industrial OEMs. Micron’s PLP provides the stability necessary for ATP’s module product line to address these challenges and help our customers reduce the frequency of painful re-designs and re-qualifications typically needed to sustain long-term projects," said Tim Hsieh, ATP President.
"We’re excited to work with ATP to extend Micron PLP solutions to more industrial and multi-market customers. Micron’s PLP components provide the stability needed for ATP to innovate and extend support with confidence. ATP’s comprehensive product offering and extensive testing capability provide a wide range of ruggedized memory solutions with extensive prequalification in extreme environmental conditions," said Tom Eby, VP/GM of Micron’s Embedded Solutions Group.
The new PLP-supported ATP industrial grade module product line will be available in a variety of DRAM module form factors for the DDR1, DDR2, and DDR3 technology generations as well as in SLC-based NAND flash embedded modules, memory cards and SSDs.
