RIZ IT-Motion Selects Dot Hill AssuredSAN

Dot Hill Systems Corp.
announced that RIZ IT-Motion GmbH has
selected the Dot Hill AssuredSAN
3000 Series as the storage foundation for its cloud computing solution.

RIZ IT-Motion provides data centre hosting and cloud-based
enterprise IT computing services to companies from diverse industry sectors
operating across all of the German speaking countries within Europe. With a
rapidly growing client base, RIZ IT-Motion has standardised on the Dot Hill
storage architecture to enable management across server
installations and expand cloud-based services within its data centre.

RIZ IT-Motion works closely with Dot Hill’s European distributor Stordis who specialise in markets where storage,
networking and computing speed are business critical factors. Stordis
introduced the Dot Hill AssuredSAN range of RAID arrays as a storage
solution that would meet current storage requirements and equip RIZ IT-Motion
for future growth. Stordis had previously advised the company on several high
performance computing projects within its data centre.

RIZ IT-Motion initially started with a Dot Hill AssuredSAN 2730T RAID unit
supporting a mixture of 3.5" SAS and SATA drives to cater to different
storage performance needs. With a rapid rise in demand for cloud based
services, storage capacity at RIZ IT-Motion continues to grow, and like all
data centres space is a premium. RIZ IT-Motion now Dot Hill AssuredSAN 3000
series arrays with 8Gb Fibre Channel host interface and twenty-four 2.5"
600GB SAS drives. The AssuredSAN 3000 also offers 10Gb iSCSI and 6Gb SAS host
interface options.

The Dot Hill AssuredSAN platform provides a scalable foundation for the virtual
server architecture at RIZ IT-Motion. The certification of all Dot Hill
AssuredSAN arrays with VMware ESX
and vSphere provides peace of mind
when deploying a consolidated virtual storage infrastructure.

will have between 10 and 60 staff and operate in a sector where IT is important
to their business processes. However, they do not want to invest in IT support
staff, or indeed have the headache of maintaining business continuity should
things go wrong. Doctors, architect firms and other consultation based services
feature regularly in our customer base," explained Calin Rotaru,
