Kaga Hightech to Sell Wireless HDD for Mobile Computers

Kaga Hightech Co. Ltd. has developed a handheld WiFi-based HDD to carry data and contents to enjoy them anywhere with a smartphone or tablet PC.

The media server can import and store data and file from DLNA-compatible terminals, which can be accessed by several terminals simultaneously. It measures 78.4 x 115.7mm x 18.7mm, and weighs about 200g.

The media server, dubbed TAXAN MeoBank, features 1.8-inch HDD with memory capacity of 200GB, which holds about 100 titles of HD movie of one-hour long, and built-in Lithium polymer battery, which can be recharged from PC via mini-USB terminal or USB charger.

The MeoBank can be used as external HDD connected with USB cable.

The TAXAN MeoBank will become available late October at electronics shops and company’s online store at ¥19,800 (US$240).

The company plans to sell 50,000 units for the initial year.
