LaCie takes away storage trading in new Wuala build
LaCie’s online backup service Wuala has been updated to build 368, code-named Hirslanden. The biggest change of note is the removal of storage trading, which previously allowed users to give up free space on their hard drive in return for free online storage.
Comments
The possibility to get more online storage for free when the user accepts to give part of its HDD for the others was a good idea, with a fantastic technology of great future behind that. Remember that LaCie paid around $10 million two years ago to get Swiss-based Wuala.
Start-up Symform has the same idea and sells unlimited storage at affordable price.
We think that the way Wuala was marketing this offer was poor and not clear enough.
