Kawasaki Motors With Venyu
RestartIT revs up online backup protection, storage and recovery.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 6, 2011 at 2:56 pmVenyu Solutions, Inc., a technology solutions provider specializing in offsite business continuity, data recovery and datacenter solutions, announced that Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. and Canadian Kawasaki Motors Inc. have selected Venyu RestartIT (formerly Amerivault) for data recovery, protection and storage.
Kawasaki selected Venyu in a competitive search of data protection providers based on Venyu’s approach to data deduplication, cloud storage backup and total cost of ownership.
The Kawasaki family of companies is one of the world’s leading makers of motorcycles and recreation vehicles. Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. provides support for more than 1,500 power sport dealers and over 8,000 small engine and power product dealers with 326 employees in Continental U.S. and Canada.
As Kawasaki’s business grows, so does the exploding volume of data and the need for secure, always-available access. Frustrated with the constant ‘care and feeding’ needed to manage their current backup application, including the need to have employees working nights and weekends, Kawasaki sought an efficient and cost-effective way to store, protect and access its data.
"We searched for a trusted partner that would help us push our many gigabytes of data to the cloud with limited bandwidth for a reasonable price," said James Grande, Data Center Supervisor at Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. "Venyu’s backup client deduplicates and compresses before it sends our data across the wire, allowing us to backup our systems with very limited impact on our Internet connection. Venyu’s cost metric is unique in that we are charged for the physical storage used after deduplication and compression has been completed on their vault. If I send 100 GB of data to Venyu, and it dedupes to 20 GB I only pay for 20 GB of used space. During these financially hard times, that is a win-win situation."
Venyu’s RestartIT Plus platform is a solution that works across Windows, virtualized servers and IBM AS/400 equipment to enable the next step in data recovery by empowering global organizations to put a recovery plan and processes in place to continue day-to-day operations in the event of a disaster. Venyu’s RestartIT is built on Recovery Time Objective (RTO) metrics, or the measurement of time between an outage and the moment that data is available again. In addition, the solution combines DR-Grade, online backup with the VMware virtualized recovery platform to provide system recovery when organizations need it most.
"Venyu is solidifying its position as a leader in enterprise-grade data and commercial cloud solutions for North America," said Scott Thompson, Venyu CEO. "Companies like Kawasaki need a partner capable of providing verified RTO documentation and contingency plans in case they experience a disaster. Venyu is answering the call and continues to do so for companies in the technology, healthcare, legal and financial services industries."
