Asigra Working With Intel
For all-in-one hybrid cloud backup appliance
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 27, 2011 at 3:12 pmAsigra Inc. was working with Intel to introduce a new backup appliance at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2011 in San Francisco.
The Asigra Cloud Backup Appliance is built on the Intel Hybrid Cloud platform and provides organizations with both local and cloud-based data recovery for data backup and recovery of critical business data.
The Asigra Cloud Backup Appliance integrates the Intel Hybrid Cloud platform with Intel storage hardware and provides a high availability solution for onsite recovery and secure cloud-based data protection.
Available through service providers and VARs, the new offering features Asigra’s agentless architecture, for simple deployment and efficient management. It is also a cloud backup solution with military-grade security, featuring FIPS 140-2 certification to ensure data integrity in flight and at rest to meet regulatory compliance requirements across multiple vertical markets. Other highlights include local and global data deduplication to optimize WAN performance and capacity and CDP for maximum data recoverability.
"For organizations that want the flexibility and affordability of cloud backup as well as the peace of mind and speed of on-premise recoverability, the Asigra Cloud Backup Appliance integrated with the Intel Hybrid Cloud Platform is an all-in-one local and Cloud BURR solution," said Ashar Baig, Senior Director, Strategic Alliances, Asigra. "In working with Intel, we have developed the Asigra Cloud Backup Appliance, combining Asigra’s renowned Cloud BURR technology with local recovery. Furthermore, the offering is packaged for ease-of-use and affordability that is ideal for small and medium sized businesses."
The Asigra Cloud Backup Appliance is pre-tested with Asigra Cloud Backup software, pre-configured with the Intel Hybrid Cloud Platform and packaged for out-of-the-box use.
Customers have the option of paying a flat fee for the appliance or a monthly service fee, based on what they use. This eliminates the capital expense of purchasing and maintaining traditional data protection hardware/software. The appliance is based on Intel’s Xeon processor, providing businesses with a powerful option to protect business-critical data.
The Asigra Cloud Backup Appliance provides
the following advantages
over traditional backup and recovery solutions:
- Centralized management and ease-of-use – Centralized control with a view of the entire backup and data protection environment from one interface.
- Automation – Consistent data protection without human intervention.
- Touchless protection of popular computing and operating systems – A single solution for Windows, Mac and Linux OS as well as built-in storage capacity to protect servers, desktops, and mobile devices, including tablets and smartphones. This eliminates the need for multiple backup solutions to protect the entire digital footprint.
- Fast local and secure offsite recovery on-demand – SMBs can have a local copy of their data for efficient and immediate recovery as well as an encrypted de-duplicated copy of the data in the cloud for off-site recovery in the event of a data loss event due to human error, malware or a natural disaster.
"In working with Asigra, we have architected an attractive new option for small and medium-sized businesses to modernize backup and recovery while maintaining the reliability and speed of recovery they demand," said Bridget Karlin, General Manager, Intel Hybrid Cloud. "With this tightly integrated, pre-configured solution, we are providing a best of breed solution that delivers a better end-user experience."
The Asigra Cloud Backup Appliance built on the Intel Hybrid Cloud Platform is offered on a rental basis with pay-as-you-grow pricing for low upfront CAPEX. For MSPs and VARs, the new offering provides access to millions of SMBs with a private label cloud backup solution that can be custom branded by channel partners.
