Peter Behrendt Retires From WD’s Board

On September 15, 2011, Peter D. Behrendt advised the board of directors of Western Digital Corp. that, consistent with the company’s retirement policy for directors, he intends to retire from the board and not seek re-election when his term expires at the company’s upcoming 2011 annual meeting of stockholders.

 Behrendt, 72, has served on the WD’s board of directors since July 1994.

He was chairman of Exabyte from January 1992 until he retired in January 1998, and president and CEO of this 8mm tape company from July 1990 to January 1997.

Before DTL and LTO, helical scan 8mm was the confortable leader of the worldwide tape market for mid-range computers.

Behrendt is currently a venture partner with NEA, a California-based venture fund. Within the last six years, Behrendt has served as a director of Infocus.
