UK SGL Integration With Dalet

And its enterprise Media Asset Management

Software Generation, Ltd, provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, announced that its software SGL flashNet is integrated with Dalet Digital Media Systems’ enterprise Media Asset Management (MAM) solution.

The integration allows broadcasters and content producers using Dalet Enterprise MAM to harness the scalability, reliability and flexibility of SGL flashNet directly from within the Media Asset Management interface. Using XML processing, raw or wrapped content can be sent to disk or tape archive by operators, by right-clicking or dragging and dropping as Dalet titles. Once in the archive, content can be deleted from local storage using Dalet Enterprise MAM’s highly configurable media purge rules.

All archived assets are searchable using Dalet Enterprise MAM’s search functions, and are restored to local storage using the MAM interface. Partial File Restore (PFR) is performed using the Dalet Media Logger system, where low resolution copies of the content can be viewed, in and out points marked and new smaller clips retrieved from the archive.

For all archive and restore operations, queue priority support enables users to prioritise important operations using configurable queue management. The integration also provides operators with error reporting and logging throughout.

This integration opens up an array of efficient workflows for Dalet Enterprise MAM users, providing them with archiving power, resilience and scalability offered by SGL flashNet, whilst harnessing the customisable flexible database models of Dalet Enterprise MAM.

Software Generation, Ltd is a privately-held archive management software company headquartered in Fareham, England. SGL has been in business since 1989 and its flashNet product is installed in over 4,500 customer sites around the world.
