Moonwalk Support for EMC Atmos
To migrate unstructured data from file servers and NAS appliances on cloud
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 19, 2011 at 2:51 pmMoonwalk Inc. announced its support for the EMC Atmos distributed cloud storage, extending the reach of its enterprise data management software.
Moonwalk customers can now migrate unstructured data from file servers and NAS appliances to EMC Atmos, or to any of the service providers that are powered by EMC Atmos. This ensures scalability across the enterprise and provides customers with faster data tranfers and recoveries, and efficient utilization of storage infrastructure and network bandwidth.
Moonwalk’s software delivers file system metadata-level precision for file data. It proactively migrates, copies and moves data according to user-defined rules and policies based on criteria such as age, size, file type, file name, file creator and many more. Its stateless architecture requires no additional overhead and is transparent to users and applications, with no introduced points of potential failure to ensure performance and availability.
EMC Atmos distributed cloud storage operates as a single entity, while its use of metadata and business policy gets the right information to the right location, at the right time-automatically. EMC Atmos scales to accommodate the expanding need for object storage and provides auto-configuring, auto-managing, and auto-healing capabilities to reduce administration and downtime.
"The EMC Atmos platform provides customers with the ability to efficiently manage globally distributed cloud storage," said Jon Martin, Senior Director of Product Marketing and Management, Cloud Infrastructure Group at EMC. "Collaboration with Moonwalk provides customers with the operational efficiency of Atmos by automatically distributing information based on business policy-with the power of Moonwalk’s data management software."
"Customers now have access to an affordable and scalable data management solution, leveraging the power of EMC Atmos cloud storage, thereby reducing total cost of storage ownership," said Peter Shambora, Executive Vice President at Moonwalk North America. "This includes users of private Atmos clouds, as well as any service provider delivering a cloud service via Atmos."
