Slim SATA Ruggedized SSD From Emphase
2GB to 128GB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 12, 2011 at 3:03 pmEmphase, provider of rugged solid state storage for industrial and military embedded systems, announced the Slim SATA flash drive.
Available in two performance grades, this lightweight, low-profile storage drive has been engineered to afford flexibility in embedded designs with capacity and performance.
The Slim SATA has a small footprint and can deliver dedicated mounting options in rugged environments and fitment flexibility unmatched in other form factors by eliminating the need for hard drive trays and excess cabling. The 4mm thick Slim SATA uses SLC flash memory and is capable of achieving capacities ranging from 2GB-128GB and transfer speeds up to 230 MB/sec. read and 170 MB/sec. write. Both series are available in extended operating temperatures up to -40°C~85°C.
The Slim SATA S3 (Read 120 MB/sec.; Write 110 MB/sec.) and S6 Series (Read 230 MB/sec.; Write 180 MB/sec.) are designed to deliver performance for years, minimizing performance degradation to be almost non-existent with long-term usage. The combination of controller and firmware design is able to extend the drives life with a wear-leveling algorithm that can distinguish between static and dynamic data.
Environmental Performance:
- Humidity: 10-95% (non-condensing)
- Operating Temp. Ranges: 0°C ~ 70°C, -40°C~80°C
- Shock: 1500 G/0.5ms
- Vibration: 20 G
- Altitude: 80,000 ft.
The low-profile Slim SATA S3 and S6 Series are for use in embedded systems and come with a managed BOM, long-term availability, 5-year warranty, and optional conformal coating.
