Arkeia Software, Inc announced that USC
Education Savings Plans, Inc. (USCI) has replaced CA ArcServe with Arkeia
Network Backup to protect a mixed environment of virtual and physical servers.
One Backup Solution
for both Physical and Virtual Machines
"USCI selected Arkeia Network Backup following a
competitive bake-off that evaluated Acronis Backup and Recovery, Symantec
Backup Exec, and Arkeia," says Gaelan Mines, Senior Network Administrator
at USCI. "We needed a product that
delivered functionality and performance, along with ease-of-use. Arkeia has also proven to be extremely
reliable-unlike our past experience with other backup solutions. Today, we protect more than 50 machines and
five VMware vSphere hypervisors."
Advanced Features to Protect VMware vSphere
"Starting in July 2010, we deployed Arkeia’s vStorage
Backup Agent for VMware’s vSphere 4.0.
We later upgraded to vSphere 4.1. Using VMware’s vStorage APIs for data protection (VADP), Arkeia’s
solution supports advanced capabilities like Changed Block Tracking, file-grain
restores, thin-full’ backups, and hot-add’ storage. The software was easy to install and to get
up-and-running."
"Arkeia does vStorage backups just as well as vendors
who only support VMware. But with
Arkeia, we enjoy the simplicity and cost-savings of a single solution that
protects both physical and virtual environments."
Replication of Backups to Private Cloud
"USCI also benefits from Arkeia’s remarkable
flexibility. For example, we are able to
safeguard all our data offsite-though some backups are saved to tape while
others are replicated to our private cloud.
Arkeia doesn’t limit our options.
It ‘plays nicely’ in our IT infrastructure."
USCI is committed to helping parents across Canada save for
post-secondary education for their children.
USCI serves customers from their enrollment right through to the delivery
of Education Assistance Payments to qualified students. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The International Scholarship Foundation.
