Tintri, Inc. announced the appointment of Robert Villarreal as Vice President of
Sales.
The appointment is effective immediately and will help accelerate
Tintri’s growth since launch.
Villarreal has over 20 years of experience
as an enterprise sales executive for storage vendors, serving most recently as
Vice President of EMC‘s Backup Recovery Systems (BRS) Division, via their Data
Domain acquisition.
Villarreal helped EMC’s BRS division attain $366 million in
annual sales revenue, with 87% year-over-year growth. Prior to EMC’s
acquisition, Villarreal created Data Domain‘s global sales program, driving
more than $100 million in annual sales and over 100% year-over-year growth.
Previously, Villarreal ran NetApp‘s Top Enterprise Program Office, working with
clients such as Oracle, Yahoo, Intel, Wells Fargo and Disney. Prior to NetApp,
Villarreal worked for 15 years as an enterprise sales executive for Siemens AG,
IBM and ROLM.
"I’m thrilled to be joining such an accomplished team,
and at such an exciting phase of their growth," said Robert Villarreal,
Tintri VP of Sales. "In just under six months, Tintri has emerged at the
vanguard of the rapidly evolving storage field. Their unique, VM-aware storage
appliance has garnered a disproportionate level of interest to date and I look
forward to helping accelerate Tintri’s rapid growth."
"Robert’s track record over the past two decades speaks
for itself," said Kieran Harty, Tintri CEO. "Throughout his career,
he’s achieved impressive results for leading enterprise IT organizations. We’re
confident that he will be instrumental in building out our sales team, both
internally and externally, and a key driving force in Tintri’s continued
evolution."
Tintri VMstore is a storage appliance
designed exclusively for VMs, allowing enterprises to broaden
their virtual deployments. The purpose-built file system offers VM-aware
functionality and can measure and control I/O performance individually for each
virtual disk in a system. Sophisticated data placement technology combined with
inline deduplication and compression allows Tintri to deliver flash performance
for all VMs.
The Tintri team was present at VMworld 2011 in Las Vegas.
