Infortrend Expands Market For Telco, Defence, Oil and Gas Industries
With DC (not AC) power systems in its EonStor DS storage solutions
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 2, 2011 at 2:42 pmInfortrend Technology, Inc. announced the availability of new DC power
systems in its EonStor DS family of storage solutions.
Many IT infrastructures
in telecommunications and military environments, as well as the oil and gas
industries, require systems with DC rather than AC power to run applications.
With dual redundant DC power supplies, the new EonStor DS storage systems are
designed to deliver reliability and performance in these infrastructures.
Thomas Kao, director of product planning at Infortrend,
noted: "Organizations relying on DC power to operate their datacentres
have a limited number of options when purchasing data storage arrays. By adding
new systems with DC power supplies to the EonStor DS product family, we are
expanding the options available to these organizations with reliable storage
solutions that offer excellent cost efficiency."
As with all EonStor DS solutions, the new DC power systems
support advanced data services including local and remote replication as well
as thin provisioning. Local replication, including snapshot and volume
copy/mirror, is standard available for EonStor DS users. Remote replication
allows users to create off-site copies of data. Thin provisioning technology
automatically allocates system capacity to applications as needed, optimizing
storage utilization while reducing power consumption.
The new EonStor DS systems include the following:
- EonStor DS S12F-R2840N: 2U form factor, dual redundant controllers, eight 8Gb/s FC host
ports, 12 drive bays per system, expansion up to 84 disk drives, DC power. - EonStor
DS S12F-S2840N: 2U form factor, single controller (upgradable to dual
redundant), four 8Gb/s FC host ports, 12 drive bays per system, expansion up to
84 disk drives, DC power.
