vRange From Quest Software Certified on Quantum DXi System

Quest Software, Inc. has certified vRanger, its VMware backup software, on Quantum Corporation‘s DXi systems.

The use of vRanger with Quantum DXi-Series deduplication appliances enhances backup and recovery performance, while reducing storage requirements.

As VMware virtual server environments grow and budgets shrink, the use of vRanger with Quantum DXi-Series provides customers with a cost-effective and efficient VMware backup solution, enabling them to work smarter to support an ever-growing amount of data for high availability and disaster recovery processes.

This tested and validated solution significantly reduces disk storage space needed for backup files by leveraging Quest patented Active Block Mapping with the patented variable-length deduplication included in Quantum DXi systems.

vRanger scans block maps to backup only the changed blocks, reducing job windows and the amount of data transferred to a Quantum DXi deduplication appliance.

The use of vRanger with Quantum DXi-Series provides scalable, fast backup and recovery processes by combining vRanger’s parallel processing capability with Quantum DXi’s deduplication.

Quantum DXi systems allow vRanger customers to automate backups across multiple sites and devices with less network traffic over the WAN. A backup image is replicated from one DXi system to a target system, over a network connection. Only unique blocks are copied, reducing WAN bandwidth requirements by 90 percent or more.
