Veeam and ExaGrid Optimize Data Protection
For VM backup and recovery
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 1, 2011 at 3:11 pmVeeam Software and ExaGrid Systems, Inc. have joined forces to improve the recoverability of VMs.
The integrated solution, which pairs Veeam’s Backup & Replication and ExaGrid’s landing zone architecture, provides fast backups and efficient data storage and retrieval. Organizations can instantly recover and run a VM directly from the ExaGrid appliance when the primary VM is unavailable.
"The Veeam and ExaGrid engineering teams have worked together for the past year to make sure the two products work together in the most efficient manner possible," said Rick Hoffman, Vice President of Channels and Alliances at Veeam. "We have fully certified the integrated solution so customers can deploy it with confidence and achieve outstanding and affordable data protection. While Veeam Backup & Replication is storage agnostic and can work with whatever system our customers choose, this combined solution provides exceptional value."
The ExaGrid landing zone, a high-speed cache on the ExaGrid appliance, maintains the most recent Veeam backups in their original formats. This technology and architecture, operating in tandem with Veeam Backup & Replication, means users can instantly recover and run an entire VM directly from ExaGrid’s disk-based backup system should the primary VM be unavailable. While most other deduplication products only retain a deduplicated copy, often resulting in limited functionality, ExaGrid’s architecture allows customers to leverage Veeam Backup & Replication’s Instant VM Recovery feature to minimize downtime and disruption.
"Organizations realize that they need to back up and protect their virtualized applications while maintaining ready access to their data," said Marc Crespi at ExaGrid Systems. "The ExaGrid disk backup with deduplication appliances provides a reliable, highly scalable and economical disk-based backup solution for Veeam Backup & Replication. This allows customers to achieve high availability of their virtualized environments, as well as recovery times measured in minutes, not hours."
"We were very pleased with Veeam for efficiently managing our VM backups prior to implementing ExaGrid, and are even more pleased to see the advantages of the two products tightly integrated," said Brian Muir, Network/Systems Administrator at Hoffman Corporation. "We’ve benefited greatly from being able to move our Veeam backups off the SAN and onto the much more cost-effective ExaGrid disk backup system. In addition, our VM restores are very fast. When evaluating backup alternatives, we couldn’t find anything like ExaGrid and Veeam to meet our functional and budget needs that was also easy to manage and set up."
ExaGrid customers are also now able to download a free evaluation copy of Veeam Backup & Replication with any purchase of an ExaGrid disk backup with deduplication system.
