Dot Hill AssuredSAN 3000 Certified

With vSphere 5.0

Dot Hill Systems Corp. announced that its AssuredSAN 3000 Series storage arrays have been certified for use with VMware vSphere 5.0.

By passing the testing of the VMware hardware certification program, Dot Hill’s AssuredSAN 3000 Series are ready for deployment in VMware vSphere 5.0 environments. VMware vSphere, a virtualization platform for building cloud infrastructures, offers the highest levels of availability and responsiveness and enables users to run business-critical applications with confidence and respond faster to their business.

"The Dot Hill AssuredSAN 3000 Series is highly synergistic with VMware environments primarily because it delivers up to 99.999 percent availability," said Jim Jonez, senior director of marketing, Dot Hill. "Dot Hill’s VMware-certified storage solutions leverage VMware’s virtual file system and Storage vMotion technologies to perform non-disruptive storage migration, free up storage capacity and maximize IT investments."

Designed to assist IT-constrained, midsize organizations facing the demands of data storage and data protection requirements, Dot Hill’s AssuredSAN storage solutions support businesses in meeting their IT needs by delivering breakthrough storage performance, efficiency, flexibility and scale. To date, Dot Hill has sold more than 500,000 storage systems worldwide.

Storing up to 288TB per SAN system, the Dot Hill AssuredSAN 3000 Series supports mixed SAS, SATA and SSD drive options, and includes high availability features – dual redundant controllers, fans and power supplies – able to deliver 99.999 percent availability. The Dot Hill AssuredSAN 3000 Series of disk-to-disk data protection products combines the company’s robust storage capability with enhanced data protection software features such as Dot Hill AssuredRemote data management software for remote replication, AssuredCopy, Dot Hill’s volume copy technology, and AssuredSnap snapshot capability to address many of today’s disaster recovery, business continuity and regulatory compliance requirements.

AssuredSAN storage solutions incorporate a number of eco-friendly features such as drive-spin-down capability and 595-watt 80 PLUS-rated (greater than 80 percent energy efficiency) power supplies for reduced operating costs. Additionally, the arrays feature Dot Hill’s patented EcoStor ‘green’ battery-free alternative for cache memory – a technique that outlasts traditional batteries nearly fivefold. Business benefits include lower maintenance and disposal costs, and reduced server and application down time due to scheduled battery replacement and maintenance.

Dot Hill is showcasing the AssuredSAN 3000 Series at VMworld August 29-Sept. 1.
