Tested under RAID-5 configuration in a Windows environment, the DS411 delivers an average read and write speed at 105 MB/sec and 47 MB/sec respectively. When operating under load, the DS411 consumes power at an energy efficiency rate of 29.7 watts. Energy is reduced to 11.0 watts when hard drives enter hibernation mode to further lowering users’ energy bills.

"We have been providing users with the utmost value for their investment and the DS411 is no exception," stated Darren Lin, product manager of Synology Inc.

The automatic RAID management adopting Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) optimizes disk capacities. Users are also provided with the flexibility to configure the RAID-protected volume types manually. The DS411 is equipped with various data security mechanisms, including Window ACL support, shared folder privilege, HTTPS secure connection, FTP over SSL, etc. The DS411 is also secured by firewall, IP auto-block, and enforced password strength to prevent hacking. Topped with 256-bit AES hardware encryption engine, the DS411 is a data safe box.

The DS411 is powered by DiskStation Manager 3.1 (DSM 3.1), the operating system of every Synology DiskStation. DSM makes complicated things simple and hard things possible by providing features on a snappy, intuitive, and multitasking web-based user interface. Acknowledged for its continuous worldwide recognition, Synology won PC World’s ‘Editor’s Choice’ award and Tweakers.net’s NAS server roundup for the same series DS211.

DiskStation DS411 is shipping worldwide.
