Lenovo to Include SugarSync as Part of SimpleTap User Interface

On its laptops

SugarSync Inc., maker of the  SugarSync online file backup, access, sync and sharing service, announced that SugarSync will be included with Lenovo’s Simple Tap user interface on Lenovo Think-branded PCs.

Lenovo will include SugarSync technology as part of its SimpleTap user interface, enabling quick access to the personal cloud.

"As more and more people recognize the power of the cloud for storing, syncing, accessing and sharing all of their files, they expect the Cloud on all of their devices," said Laura Yecies, CEO of SugarSync. "This demand for cloud services on all devices has been a huge driver for SugarSync, as we support both Mac and PC platforms as well as 95 percent of all mobile devices worldwide. Our relationship with Lenovo will give their Think-branded PC users easier access to the SugarSync Cloud, right out of the box."

SimpleTap is Lenovo’s touch interface that gives customers access to the content, hardware controls and software applications they use most. A SugarSync ’tile’ will be provided in the SimpleTap interface, and customers can tap or click the tile to sign up for SugarSync or to log in if they are an existing user. Lenovo and SugarSync will also be cooperating to develop ways to enhance a user’s experience in playing and storing music and videos to enable easy access and playback across devices.

Once logged in, the SugarSync tile in SimpleTap will give customers one-touch access to SugarSync, where they can backup, access, sync and share their files, photos, music, movies and other data across all of their computers and mobile devices.

"SimpleTap is just one of the ways we’re delivering the most intuitive PC user experience: Users have their most frequently used content, hardware controls, and software applications at their fingertips," said Geoffrey Bula, Director, Software Product Management, Lenovo. "Today’s PC users want to access their files and work from anywhere, and by collaborating with SugarSync, we’re making the Cloud easily accessible via one touch through SimpleTap."

Lenovo is the latest in a series of partners that have selected SugarSync to provide Cloud services to their customers in the last year. SugarSync has been selected by service providers such as Korea Telecom and France Telecom-Orange. SugarSync is also now distributed by Best Buy in North America, Softbank in Japan, and AOL worldwide. And IObit makes SugarSync available to its 100 million customers.

"In addition to the large distribution deals we’ve signed, we’re seeing a strong trend towards hardware companies like Lenovo that want to pre-load and embed SugarSync on their devices to enhance the user experience for their customers," said Yecies. "We expect to announce several more large partnerships before the end of the year."
