Spyrus Encrypting USB Flash Drive Available to Federal/Civilian Agencies
Through DAR reseller Autonomic Resources
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 28, 2011 at 3:04 pmSPYRUS, Inc., provider of high-assurance authentication, encryption, and storage solutions, announced that its PocketVault P-384 encrypting USB flash drive is available to federal and civilian agencies through its DAR (Data-At-Rest) ESI/BPA (Enterprise Software Initiative/Blanket Purchase Agreement) reseller, Autonomic Resources.
PocketVault P-384 uses the same security designed to protect military secrets and can be used with computers running Mac OS, Windows, or Linux.
To prevent employees from bringing a virus in from the outside on a USB flash drive, PocketVault P-384 features a read-only switch. Users can load content onto the P-384 in read/write mode while in a secure environment, and then set the device to read-only mode. After logging on to the drive, data on the P-384 can be read on any computer without fear of modification or infection.
Like all SPYRUS products, this encrypting storage device implements the set of Suite B cryptographic algorithms including elliptic curve cryptography: a set of algorithms and key sizes designed by the US Government for data protection and information sharing for unclassified through ‘Top Secret’ classified information. Similar SPYRUS drives are used by the federal government and Department of Defense to secure documents and files, and this same technology is now available for individual users and small to enterprise-size businesses.
"Greg Schaffer, acting deputy undersecretary of the Homeland Security Department National Protection and Programs Directorate, has confirmed that apparently intentional security flaws have been found embedded in foreign security components," said Tom Dickens, SPYRUS, Inc. COO. "Now more than ever, it’s important to know exactly where your security comes from."
"All of the cryptographic components in SPYRUS devices are designed and engineered in the United States by U.S. citizens using our innovative patents in encryption and public key technology, and our products are manufactured in the USA," added Burt Tregub, VP of Corporate Development.
PocketVault P-384 with the read only switch will ship on August 8 and can be ordered from Amazon and GSA resellers in the USA, ESI/BPA reseller Autonomic Resources, other resellers worldwide, or directly from SPYRUS, Inc.
