Digistore Solutions International
(DSSI) announced a global OEM agreement with CA Technologies to combine
CA’s desktop migration management technology with DSSI’s Centurion DiscHub
WorkGroup. The agreement will deliver a system migration
solution.
The Centurion DiscHub WorkGroup is an optical
storage device suitable for small and medium businesses (SMBs). It’s software
is an optical volume management program which allows read/write and
network access to the Centurion DiscHub 100 slot optical library. It also
provides users across a network to read data stored on optical disc where the
end users see only a drive letter with folders and files. This allows for a
variable sized read / write cache, span data across multiple discs and group
discs into a larger volume. The Centurion DiscHub WorkGroup combines robotic
technology with a 100 disc capacity carousel for automated operation.
"The Centurion DiscHub Workgroup solution enables SMB
customers access to enterprise type solutions via CA Technologies with the
benefit of driving down IT operational cost and increasing productivity,"
said Klasie Holtzhausen, Senior Director, Channel Sales, CA Technologies, Australia and New Zealand.
Combining the Centurion DiscHub WorkGroup with CA desktop
migration management technology enables organisations to capture, store and
update an individual’s unique and personalised settings and files – on an
individual disc per user or a group of discs within a volume set. CA’s desktop
migration management technology is designed to automate the management,
movement and maintenance of a PC’s unique data and settings during change
initiatives. This technology is a feature of CA IT Client Manager, a solution that enables enterprises to deploy, track and manage all end
user computing devices, from laptops and desktops, to mobile devices and PDAs,
while reducing costly downtime and driving productivity.
CA’s technology preserves a PC’s desktop environment
when it needs to be replaced or upgraded. It includes retaining and
transferring system and application settings, network and printing settings,
data files and folders. Email address books, preferences and so on. When
performed manually this is a time-consuming, labour intensive, error-prone and
costly process. Effective desktop migration provides the foundation for IT change management initiatives.
"The combination of the Centurion DiscHub WorkGroup and CA’s
desktop migration technology is the perfect solution when migrating single or
multiple PCs assisting organisations are able to keep their IT systems
up-to-date, secure, competitive and productive," said Geoff MacLeod-Smith, Chief
Executive Officer, DSSI.
"As a user, I have been very impressed with the features and
capabilities of this joint software. Desktop Migration Manager along with the
Centurion DiscHub is an integrated and hassle free solution which can help
anyone from home users to business users to manage their secure settings and
move them from one computer to another," said Rati Ram, Nunawading
Pharmacy.
Ram continued: "Since using this solution, I don’t have
any more concerns about moving and migrating users and their settings.
Centurion DiscHub Workgroup now also allows me to keep my important CDs/DVDs
safe, organised and scratch free."
