Fast-teks Brings Security and Off-Site, Online Backup

To Rhode Islanders

Computer security is an issue that is here to stay – businesses need to protect their proprietary data and investments, and individuals must safeguard important documents, identity information, and personal files. However, despite this constant need for up-to-date security solutions, preventative or reparative computer maintenance, and regular data backups, small and medium-sized businesses often lack the resources to maintain in-house IT personnel, and many individuals simply don’t have the time, training, or inclination to stay on top of their own technology needs.

Fast-teks On-Site Computer Services, a nationwide company created to solve this problem, provides trained and skilled computer technicians on an as-needed basis to perform on-site services. For franchise owner and Area Director Michael Andersen, recently retired from a professional basketball career and looking for new challenges, Fast-teks, Inc. provided a chance to put his URI Business Administration degree to work while offering IT assistance to Rhode Islanders.

"Fast-teks really rose to the top as a business opportunity," Mr. Andersen states. "I loved the business model and their quest for excellence. Becoming part of the Fast-teks family just seemed like a natural fit."

His branch will serve Jamestown, Cranston, Warwick, East Greenwich, North Kingston, Newport, Narragansett, Wakefield, Charlestown, and surrounding areas.

Whether for businesses or individuals, outsourcing IT needs to companies such as Fast-teks can be a time and money saver. Business customers enjoy services such as server support, data recovery, web design, remote backups, and more. Similarly, individuals frequently use Fast-teks to troubleshoot computer problems, for antivirus solutions, and to set up home wireless networks. Both businesses and individuals often benefit from Fast-teks’ software training, among other services.

"Security and data backup," says Mr. Andersen, "are special focuses of his new branch for both businesses and private citizens."

"Security is a huge issue not only for our government, but also for individuals learning to do business over the Internet," he states. "Of course there’s no guarantee of a 100% secure PC anywhere in the world, but we offer tools and knowledge that can help you improve the security of your PC or Mac, and hopefully keep you safer as you surf and do business on the web. If your computer is running slowly or you’ve lost control over files, you could be dealing with a virus. We can help restore your PC, remove viruses or spyware, and help improve your security measures."

"In addition to increasing your PC’s security, our tools can help safeguard your data through online or on-site backup solutions," Mr. Andersen adds. "Most Americans don’t give enough thought to backing up their important data. Think about it – if a hard drive were to fail, losing your personal photos, music, video files, and documents could be devastating, and replacing them could be costly and sometimes impossible. On the other hand, backup solutions are relatively inexpensive, and can help to protect those irreplaceable files and folders from disaster."

"Prevention," says Mr. Andersen, "is key."

Having periodically returned to Rhode Island during his sports career before coming back to raise his family in the area, Mr. Andersen is thrilled to be back and to have the opportunity to provide valuable services to the local community. In honor of his branch’s grand opening, he is currently offering a $25 discount to new clients.
