Diskeeper V-locity 3.0 Will Support VMware ESXi
To be released this quarter
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 22, 2011 at 3:02 pmDiskeeper Corporation‘s virtual platform disk optimiser V-locityhttp://www.diskeeper.com/business/v-locity has its third edition currently in the final phase of field testing.
Tipped for release this quarter, there is no official statement yet of what new features are included, but V-locity 3.0 will support VMware ESXi, VMware’s bare-metal hypervisor.
"The challenge with supporting VMware ESXi is that ESXi does not allow installations on the Server (Host). Therefore we have developed an agentless solution that provides the same functionality. This has been accomplished and will be available for ESXi, ESX and Hyper-V on release. There are also some additional enhancements that I know will excite our customers," said Mandeep Birdi, Technical Presales Consultant
V-locity improves performance of virtual platforms, such as VMware vSphere, and allows them to operate more efficiently. This results in cost savings and facilitates virtualisation initiatives in enterprises.
V-locity Benefits:
- Prevents most fragmentation before it can happen
- Synchronisation of defrag across VMs and SANs
- Maintenance free automatic operation
- Most efficient use of free space possible
- No active resource impact
- 100% compatible with copy-on-write technology
- Faster performance for users of Linked Clones/Differencing Disks
"We are still quite enthusiastic about V-Locity. We offer it [to] our customers in virtual environments," said Christian Hofmann, PC-Future GmbH.
"We have been Diskeeper customers for years, and when we began the switch to virtualisation using Hyper-V, V-locity was suggested to help improve performance of the virtual machines. V-locity has proven to be a valuable tool in our virtual environment," said Faye Jasman, Canal Insurance Company.
