CariNet Selects BridgeSTOR
To reduce I/O bottlenecks in their cloud data centers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 20, 2011 at 2:58 pmBridgeSTOR, LLC announced that CariNet, Inc., a cloud computing
company with seven data centers servicing more than 8,500 customers around the
globe, has chosen its AOS High Density Network Storage Appliance to solve the problems of disk I/O limitations inherently found within
virtualized environments.
San Diego-based CariNet owns and operates multiple
datacenters with critical system infrastructures that assures customers of
continual uptime. Started in 1997 as a hosting provider, CariNet has built an
international base of enterprise customers who require automated provisioning,
flexible configurations, and around-the-clock certified systems support. In
order to retain and grow its customer base, CariNet continually seeks out hardware and software solutions that push the envelope on
performance, often using the latest technologies available to
ensure that it provides dependable and reliable services for their
client’s mission critical computing and storage platforms.
Looking to leverage the redundancy and performance benefits
of multi-disk 10GbE iSCSI SANs, CariNet’s search led it to BridgeSTOR and its
line of Advanced Data Reduction solutions. Says Joe McMillen, CariNet’s CEO,
"The combination of BridgeSTOR’s breakthrough disk I/O, compression,
de-duplication and thin provisioning fit the unique requirements demanded by
today’s cloud deployments and content make-up. By connecting our cloud systems
to the BridgeSTOR AOS appliances, we’ve achieved compression ratios of 8:1 or
greater."
"BridgeSTOR employs a team of industry veterans with decades
of experience in storage," noted Mike Carpenter, VP of Business
Development for CARI.net, "while developing complex cloud solutions for
enterprise customers, the CARI.net sales team received critical sales support
from BridgeSTOR sales engineers. This is the type of partnership needed to
deliver best-in-class service for our customers’ requirements for high
reliability."
CariNet provides Cloud Solutions and I.T. automation for
the global enterprise community via infrastructure and wholly- owned private data centers. By ‘virtualizing’ entire data centers,
CariNet is able to offer on-demand, scalable business services
without requiring customers to sign long term contracts, nor invest in large
up-front capital expenditures.
"CariNet’s commitment to providing its customers with
the most robust virtual infrastructure available and extreme high performance
led it to seek out a better solution to today’s storage challenges," said
BridgeSTOR’s CEO John Matze. "By implementing BridgeSTOR’s AOS High
Density Network Storage Appliance, CariNet was able to realize improved
operation efficiency at reduced cost, allowing it to get the most productivity
out of its cloud computing infrastructure. CariNet has discovered firsthand
how our AOS appliances deliver unmatched capacity efficiency, management
simplicity, ease of installation and breakthrough value for its business."
Depending on the data, deduplication reduces block storage
data by 10 to 80 percent. Compression works on the deduplicated data, as well
as on blocks that do not deduplicate. Together, these data reduction
techniques can shrink storage capacity requirements by up to 4:1, or 75%,
although some types of data can be reduced even more without
compromising performance.
BridgeSTOR VS-ADR appliances are available through select
channel partners.
