Rectiphy Offers ActiveImage Protector Free Personal Edition

Rectiphy Corporation is giving away a new Personal Edition of its ActiveImage Protector backup software to home users.

New ActiveImage Protector Free Personal Edition (AIP Free) offers most of the same features found in Rectiphy’s ActiveImage Protector family of corporate products including fast sector-based imaging of entire systems, the ability to retrieve single files and directories, backup of live VSS-aware applications, handy wizards, bare-metal recovery and more. AIP Free is for home users and is not intended or licensed for use on corporate computers.

Recent studies show that 35% of home users do not backup their home PC or laptop at all and a staggering 74% don’t back up their PCs and data often enough. One reason is that traditional file based backup programs are expensive, slow, difficult to set up and interrupt normal PC use.

AIP Free enables users to set up a file retrieval and disaster recovery process with handy AIP Wizards and backup management tools. After a complete system backup ActiveImage Protector’s Smart Sector technology takes regularly scheduled snapshots backing up just the data that has changed since the last incremental or full backup. AIP Free is installed from a Windowsless boot disk which also provides help with disaster recovery. Users can use the boot disk to restore their operating system, programs, data and most drivers to a new computer or hard drive. Users can also mount a backup image to retrieve individual files and directories as if they were on a separate drive.

AIP Free includes many features that will ease backup and recovery management for home uses such as scripting, resource usage adjustment options, password protection, encryption, disk to disk cloning and more.

ActiveImage Protector Free Personal Edition supports Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 but cannot be used on corporate or an organization’s machines. Corporate users, can upgrade to AIP Desktop Edition ($59) which includes a remote network console, physical to virtual (P2V) migrations, Windows PE boot disk recovery and Rectiphy phone support. Users can download AIP Free from free download websites or from AIPFree.com. Like other ActiveImage Protector products the download is fully functional for 14 days. To use the software beyond two weeks users will need to activate the software by registering their email address at AIPFree.com or click ‘Go to App’ on the AIP Free Facebook App Page and ‘Allow’ Rectiphy to access your basic information (name and email address).
