ZL Expanded Unified Archive as SaaS Solution
Through partnership with SunGard Availability Services
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 1, 2011 at 3:21 pmZL Technologies, Inc. (ZL) is leveraging Enterprise Cloud Services from SunGard Availability Services to deliver a SaaS offering.
SunGard’s Enterprise Cloud Services is helping ZL to broaden its customer reach without the need to build and staff new, costly IT infrastructure.
SunGard’s Enterprise Cloud Services is an on-demand, enterprise-class solution which provides fully managed, virtual private data centers to support ZL’s Unified Archive production applications.
SunGard’s managed IaaS offering provides multiple layers of protection, including redundant firewalls, segregated Layer 2 networking and integrated virtual private network (VPN) connectivity, which were requirements for ZL’s environment. SunGard’s managed approach offers ZL systems monitoring, patching, backup, maintenance and trouble resolution, to help reduce its provisioning burden and IT administrative demands.
"SunGard’s Enterprise Cloud Services provide a highly secure and resilient platform based on IT security best practices and architected for compliance – features that address our customers’ demanding enterprise environments," said Stephen Chan, co-founder and vice president, business development at ZL Technologies. "SunGard is helping us break a major price barrier by moving our production solutions to a cloud-based, multi-tenant platform – allowing us to reshape the economics of enterprise records management, archiving, and e-discovery solutions."
SunGard’s Enterprise Cloud Services will help boost the flexibility ZL can provide customers. For instance, ZL can now offer a customer an application environment for testing without committing to a new supporting IT infrastructure. Also, ZL customers involved in litigation typically need on-demand usage for records management and e-discovery processes and the SunGard Enterprise Cloud Services environment allows them to ramp up processing and storage to handle the data surge.
"We looked at a number of competing cloud solutions and selected SunGard because it was the best fit in helping us make a Software-as-a-Service model work. Essential to this model is SunGard’s flexible and elastic pricing that allows us to pay for IT infrastructure from operating expenditures rather than capital expenditures," said Mr. Chan.
According to Rob Walters, vice president, product management, managed services, at SunGard Availability Services, "ZL Technologies provides a great example of how companies can transform with cloud computing services. The cloud is helping ZL bring its offerings to new customers that are attracted to the economics of a SaaS offering."
