Backupify announced the addition of
several new government customers, including NASA, The National Archives, the
City of Rockford, Illinois, Marion County, Florida and Louisiana Economic
Development, to the company’s list of government agencies and municipalities.
Federal, state, local and international government organizations continue to
adopt Backupify to protect their social media accounts such as Facebook and
Twitter. With Backupify, these organizations can mitigate data loss concerns
and satisfy compliance requirements that arise through the increased usage of
social media.
As an online backup provider for cloud services
such as Google Apps, Facebook, and Twitter, Backupify ensures that users can
readily access and control this data while preventing it from loss due to external
threats, user error or service failure. As governments must adhere to stringent
records retention and data reproduction requirements for any information of
public record, Backupify provides a backup and archive of all
social media to satisfy compliance audits and legal requests. This critical
layer of protection empowers government agencies to explore more advanced
social media initiatives, including direct and public engagement with
constituents, without the fear of legal and regulatory ramifications.
One of Backupify’s newest government customers, the City of
Rockford, Illinois, utilizes the solution to archive all information posted to
the city’s Facebook Fan Page and Twitter account. While the city continues to
evolve its use of social media, before Backupify, officials contemplated
halting activity without effective backup and retention policies and solutions
in place.
"Social media has become an essential tool to
communicate openly with constituents. Unfortunately, there was no easy way to
retain online information that may have been lost or deleted," said Kevon
K. Hayes, Web Developer and Administrator for the City of Rockford, Illinois.
"That’s when we found Backupify. Backupify gives us the peace of mind we
needed to engage with our community online. There is really no other solution
on the market that provides the functionality of Backupify to help take the
stress out of using social media for government purposes."
Other recent government agencies and municipalities
using
Backupify include:
- NASA
- The National
Archives - U.S. Department
of Energy - City of Tempe, AZ
- Iowa
Finance Authority - Lake County, IL
- State of Nebraska
- Louisiana Economic Development
- City of Rockford, Illinois
- Marion County,
Florida - City of Springfield, Missouri
- City of Rochester, Minnesota
"Social media is fast becoming the primary way that
government agencies communicate with constituents online," said Rob May,
Co-Founder and CEO, Backupify. "Backupify mitigates concerns over data
loss by ensuring that all social media information is archived and protected
against inadvertent deletion, hacked accounts or service disruption."
