Global Net Access Selects Acuo Technologies

For cloud-based healthcare image storage solution

Global Net Access (GNAX), healthcare technology service provider, announces a strategic relationship with Acuo Technologies, LLC to develop a cloud-based, vendor neutral archive (VNA) of medical images for healthcare providers.

Medical Image Archiving
is one of the latest healthcare solutions from GNAX which include second-tier application delivery, cloud hosting, managed backup & disaster recovery solutions and a free health information exchange (HIE).

Hospitals are facing tighter technology budgets with higher performance expectations. One of the largest expenses in the hospital IT budget is storage, and with the constant improvement in image resolution and quality of Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS), that storage cost will increase in the coming years. Additionally, hospitals face the expanding need to share medical images outside the hospital system with referring physicians and other specialists.

GNAX, powered by Acuo Technologies, is delivering a PACS vendor neutral archive designed to solve these problems. Acuo Technologies Universal Clinical Platform combined with GNAX’s cloud storage solution creates a sensible solution for healthcare providers. This GNAX platform supports the archiving and viewing of medical images from any PACS. GNAX will manage the archiving lifecycle, normalize all medical images into a standard format, store them in a fully redundant healthcare cloud and support interoperability with multiple existing or new PACS as well as on-demand access over the web. This GNAX VNA solution will be available with pay-as-you-go storage pricing, eliminating capital expenditures for large on-premise storage solutions and resources needed for managing storage infrastructure.

Additionally, GNAX will allow image owners to share images with third parties through GNAX’s health information exchange (HIE) for no additional cost. Medical images can be shared with referring physicians, specialists and patients for free.

"Acuo makes a great partner for us," commented GNAX Chief Technology Officer, Mariano Maluf. "We are experts at cloud solutions, storage and back up. Now with Acuo, we can take that expertise and apply it directly to managing PACS images for hospitals. Our VNA gives them flexibility they never had before, being able to store images that can be viewed through any PACS solution and shared with virtually anyone, anywhere – all while lowering costs."

"We are very excited to be working with GNAX," said Jeff Timbrook, CEO of Acuo Technologies. "Healthcare providers can benefit tremendously with this solution that takes advantage of lower-cost cloud-based storage and Acuo’s state-of-the art clinical content archiving, migration and management technology. We expect this offering from GNAX to be a compelling solution in the hosted medical image management marketplace."
