This web site, StorageNewsLetter.com, was first introduced in November 2007, and we have published more than 18,000 news.

Since June 6, 2011, we have modified the headings used to classify all this information for better understanding and to be more specific.   

StorageNewsLetter.com has changed from 12 to 19 headings (published on the left side of each pages). By clicking on one of this heading, you will find its definition and then all the corresponding news classified by date.

The main one was the "Business" heading,
too large, now divided in six headings:

• M&A,
• Start-Up,
• Financial Result,
• OEM/Channel/Distribution
• Customer’s Win, and
• Business (others).

From now for example, you will get directly all the news on start-ups only, or just the fiscal results of storage companies by clicking on their unique heading.

New headings also added are:

• Market Report/Research
• Cloud, Online Backup/Cloud, SSP, MSP

These changes are operating since June 6, 2011. The former news continue to be classified under the older classification.

Definitions:

• System (RAID, NAS, SAN): All storage subsystems including DAS, RAID, NAS, FC and iSCSI SAN
• Software: All the storage software (backup, SRM, CAS, de-dupe, CDP, replication, management, virtualization, data classification, archiving, etc)
• Hard Disk Drive: Hard disk drives (internal units, components, technology), external units with only one HDD
• Tape: Tape drives, media and automation
• Optical: Optical drives and media (CD, DVD, Blu-ray), pressed, WORM, erasable, and technology and components
• Connectivity (switch/HBA/interface/CNA): Switches, HBAs, interfaces, FCoE, CNAs, WAFS
• Security: Encryption (hardware or software), key management
• Solid State (Flash key, SSD, etc.): Silicon drives and chips, and other technologies based on silicium
• Consumer Electronics: CE products including storage devices
• Business (others): Others than M&A, start-up, company’s profile, financial result, market report and research, channel/distribution, customer’s win
• People: Who is going where, salaries
• Miscellaneous: Anything else
• Cloud, Online Backup, SSP, MSP**: Cloud, Online Backup, SSPs, MSPs
• M&A*: Mergers and acquisitions
• Start-Up*: Start-up’s profiles, financial fundings
• Financial Result*: Quarterly and yearly financial results of storage companies
