This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 3, 2011 at 2:52 pmNimbus Data Systems, Inc. announced that its S-class enterprise solid state storage platform was selected by OG Systems as the network storage foundation to support STORMS (SITE Task Order Management System), a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) web infrastructure portal that provides worldwide access to DIA’s SITE Program Office operations.
STORMS utilize the virtualization technology from VMware, software and database platforms from Microsoft, server hardware from Dell, and solid-state storage from Nimbus. OG Systems, a Fast50 government IT services provider, manages the entire STORMS operational infrastructure including hardware, software and infrastructure.
"The Nimbus S-class solid state storage system provides nonstop operational support. By providing nonstop operation, consistent exceptional performance, and simple administration, the Nimbus storage device has provided a lower cost of ownership versus traditional 15K-rpm disk arrays," stated Kendrick Gordon, Lead Architect OG Systems, which selected, deployed, and manages the Nimbus solution. "The success of the Nimbus platform is enabling us to rapidly expand opportunities at DIA while maximizing performance and minimizing storage operating costs."
"We are delighted that Nimbus was selected as the Flash memory storage platform for this critical new DIA program," said Thomas Isakovich, CEO of Nimbus. "This win demonstrates the exceptional performance, simplicity, and value of the Nimbus solution, as well as the increasing vital role that network-attached solid state storage will play in next-generation Web applications."
