Xiotech ISE Citrix Ready With Pano Logic
For XenDesktop and XenServer virtual environments
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 2, 2011 at 2:51 pmXiotech Corporation announced a set of ISE-based offerings and enhancements that provide Citrix customers with flexibility and cost effectiveness in deploying and provisioning storage for Citrix desktop virtualization and cloud infrastructures.
ISE storage is verified as Citrix Ready for both Citrix XenDesktop and Citrix XenServer. The Citrix Ready program helps customers identify third-party solutions that are recommended to enhance virtualization, networking and cloud computing solutions from Citrix.
Xiotech’s offerings include the following elements:
- VDI Bundle – Xiotech has partnered with Pano Logic to create a storage and thin client bundle for Citrix XenDesktop. With new ‘controller-less’ storage capabilities for Citrix XenServer, the VDI bundle reduces complexity of implementation and accelerates deployment time for desktop virtualization integrator partners.
- MetaLUN for Citrix XenServer – Xiotech enables ‘controller-less’ scale-out storage for Citrix environments. Delivering a new level of integration with the logical volume manager capability in XenServer, Xiotech’s MetaLUN for Citrix allows ISE storage systems to be added on-the-fly to dynamically increase capacity of the storage repository and performance for Xen-based virtual machines.
"Citrix customers have come to expect the highest levels of performance and flexibility, with the least amount of complexity for their virtualization deployments," said Joe Keller, vice president, community and alliance marketing at Citrix. "Our Citrix Ready partnership with Xiotech, and the capabilities inherent in the ISE platform, give our mutual customers the ability to more rapidly and cost effectively roll out virtualization projects."
Xiotech ISE is a 3U storage system designed for mixed or dedicated workloads and can be implemented behind various storage virtualization controllers to provide non-native storage functions, such as snapshots, thin provisioning, sync and asynchronous replication, and large LUNs – with minimal setup and benefitting from self-tuning. MetaLUN for Citrix XenServer establishes storage repositories that directly connect and present LUNs to XenServer hosts and then provision virtual machines from a pooled storage repository.
As new requirements emerge and additional storage is needed, the repository can be dynamically expanded by – adding additional ISE storage systems to the environment, adding new LUNs and expanding the storage repository to include the new LUNs. As new virtual disks and virtual machines are created, they will automatically capitalize on the additional repository space available.
"ISE storage systems offer customers the industry’s highest performance and lowest cost, and most of all, they just work," said Steve Sicola, Xiotech CTO. "With the introduction of Hybrid ISE this year delivering a new benchmark for storage potential, our ability to integrate at even better levels with partners like Citrix provides limitless opportunities for making storage so simple and flexible, that it becomes virtually invisible."
