Start-Up CopperEgg Launching RevealStorage ($150 to $4,750/Year)

Austin-based CopperEgg Corporation, developer of real-time performance analytics products, announced availability of RevealStorage.

Available in a software-as-a-service offering, RevealStorage makes real-time storage analytics affordable.

CopperEgg delivers visualization and actionable insight for storage
infrastructure. RevealStorage customers monitor and analyze NFS storage
performance across diverse vendors and architectures, instead of in
fragmented silos. Administrators gain actionable understanding with
multiple dimensions of analytics, from organization-wide aggregated
views to individual filer granularity.

NFS is commonly used for VMware datastores, by web and application
hosters, and in large compute cluster enviroments, as well as in Apple
and Linux installations for file sharing. However, managing NFS
performance can be difficult as necessary metrics are often scattered
across multiple systems, uncorrelated, even missing.

With CopperEgg, storage administrators
get consistent information
on three critical NFS issues:

1. Real-time storage latency visibility, showing response time spikes
   hidden by traditional polling type monitoring tools, which sample
   storage performance only every 5 or 10 minutes. These previously
   invisible spikes can cause poor performance conditions for minutes at a
   time for users.
2. Filer hot spot identification, enabling administrators to identify
   filers that are performing near maximal historical limits on storage
   throughput or IOPs.
3. Vendor-neutral analysis, comparing storage performance from differing filer solutions consistently and without bias.

server installation and operates without application impact. The
RevealStorage data collector installs directly on any open source OS
running an NFS file server or open filer distribution (e.g., FreeNAS,
