Bridgeworks Markets 10Gb iSCSI to 6Gb SAS Protocol Bridge
The Potomac ESAS102800
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 27, 2011 at 3:08 pmBridgeworks Limited is launching the world’s first 10Gb iSCSI to 6Gb Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) protocol bridge: the Potomac ESAS102800.
The launch of ESAS102800 is the first in what will be an expansion of Bridgeworks’ product range with the introduction of its next generation of SAN bridging architecture.
The Bridgeworks Potomac ESAS102800 builds on nearly 30 years of experience and expertise in providing solutions for the bridging market and extends the current range of Potomac Bridges from the desktop all the way to the demanding enterprise requirements.
Through its two 6GB SAS ports which support four SAS channels each, the EASA102800 is for connecting to the latest SAS enabled devices such as disk arrays, LTO-5 tape drives and libraries, whilst the connection to the iSCSI SAN infrastructure is via two 10Gbe ports that support various connectivity options using SFP+ GBICs.
The Potomac ESAS102800, with its adaptive write caching techniques and read ahead caching, enhances the performance of the ESAS102800 making it suitable for those users who require to connect and share their storage in a virtualised computing environment.
David Trossell, CEO of Bridgeworks states: "The release of the Potomac ESAS102800 demonstrates Bridgeworks’ continued commitment to provide unique and innovative solutions for connecting to the latest advances in storage protocols and storage devices. The adoption of 10Gbe iSCSI into the enterprise has been rapid and widespread. However, up to now there has been one piece missing – 10Gb iSCSI connectivity for tape and tape libraries. With the Potomac ESAS102800, Bridgeworks now provides the final piece to complete the iSCSI SAN."
