Atempo Digital Archive Certified for Dell DX Object Storage
Extension of partnership between the two companies
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 24, 2011 at 3:06 pmAtempo, Inc. announced that Atempo Digital Archive (ADA) has been certified for the Dell DX Object Storage Platform.
The announcement expands the long-standing partnership between the two companies.
ADA is a file archiving solution that provides an open, centrally managed and secure archive to address growth in data volumes and long-term retention requirements. It is integrated with the Dell DX Object Storage Platform’s API enabling Dell and Atempo customers to manage the overall total cost of ownership associated with the archival of data for long-term preservation. ADA frees up valuable primary storage space by automatically migrating data to the DX Object Storage Platform, achieving storage optimization. The metadata-aware joint solution can provide users the information they need to understand the content and the context of the data. Thanks to ADA and the Dell DX Object Storage Platform, users can identify and retrieve information quickly and easily.
"We continue to see an exponential growth of storage as more and more information is being stored digitally," said Brett Roscoe, worldwide marketing director, Dell Enterprise Storage. "Organizations require integrated hardware and software solutions that enable them to efficiently store, manage and discover their digital content. Working with Atempo, our archive solution utilizes object based storage that secures data in one place for risk and cost management with an enterprise-level archiving file solution that manages storage resources and ensures the long-term protection of business-critical data."
When used together, the ADA and the DX Object Storage Platform solution can optimize total cost of ownership and resources, and enhances performance of primary storage and backup software, while also allowing users to centrally manage long-term archives. ADA ensures data is organized and made accessible using built-in Hierarchical Storage Management capabilities. By tracking metadata and using metadata-based policies, ADA and the DX Object Storage Platform can provide the data management intelligence to intuitively manage how long and where the data is stored.
"This certification is part of our ongoing commitment to provide data-intensive companies across all industries with a powerful archiving solution," said Richard Heitmann, vice president, marketing at Atempo. "Media and entertainment companies and life sciences organizations, for example, are faced with exponential growth of unstructured data that needs to be kept for the long-term while remaining accessible. They need a comprehensive solution that will tackle the challenges associated with storage optimization and long-term digital assets preservation. When used together, ADA and the DX Object Storage Platform address these needs."
With the new support of the Dell DX Object Storage Platform by Atempo’s file archiving product, Atempo builds upon the longstanding support it has provided for Dell servers and storage products with Atempo Time Navigator (ATN), its Enterprise backup solution.
