Synerway Unveils Two Virtual Backup Appliances

French software vendor specialising in the backup of enterprise data, Synerway provides virtualised environment data protection solutions with two new appliances:

• The first is the SVA (Synerway Virtual Appliance), a backup and restoration solution which uses the shared resources of the clients existing VMware or Hyper-V virtualised environment.
• The second is the SVA Pack. This solution is for installations which do not have an existing virtualised environment.

The SVA Pack installs on a non-virtualised physical server, from an installation package which includes a virtual environment emulator and a Synerway Appliance management interface.

With these two solutions, data externalisation is performed to a remote consolidation site. This can be a data center, a private cloud, a site with a physical Synerway Appliance or a third-party NAS-type disk, server disk, external disk or even a USB key via a CIFS share.

Each SVA includes a software licence for 1 TB of storage space and unlimited licences for Windows/Linux systems, SQL, Oracle and MS-Exchange applications. If more space is required, it is simple to install additional SVAs.

SVA and SVA Pack Appliances are aimed at all organisations which have multi-site environments with local data to backup and restore locally.

Virtual Appliance technology is suited to sites without backup administration skills where media handling must be reduced or non-existent and where data externalisations are performed over the network.

With its centralised supervision and backup Appliance (the RBM SVA) also in its virtual form, Synerway provides its two new Appliances with a management tool for physical or virtual infrastructures or a combination of both.

Synerway Appliances have advantages among which: the ease of deployment on remote sites, the simplicity of daily administration and the rapidity of restoration.

Synerway Virtual Appliances are sold in subscription mode for periods ranging from one to five years.
