AppAssure Up 162% Y/Y in 1Q11

16th consecutive quarter of revenue growth

AppAssure Software announced that Q1 of 2011 continued the company’s momentum with record revenue, staff expansion, and deeper reach in the Managed Service Provider market and internationally throughout Europe. Year-over year results for the quarter marked revenue growth of 162%, hitting the company’s 16th consecutive quarter of quarter-over-quarter revenue growth and adding more than 1,000 new customers.

One of AppAssure’s newest UK-based managed service provider customers, Aztech IT, knows the importance fast local and offsite recovery of mission critical applications. Aztech IT’s co-founder and director Sean Houghton insists on having the ability to tell his clients of all sizes, "Yes, we can recover any failed application server quickly and easily for you, both locally and remotely – with minimal downtime and data loss. Small businesses have the same business continuity and disaster recovery needs as larger clients, but solutions haven’t always been practical, reliable, or affordable for us to recommend them to clients. We use Kaseya, and neither Symantec nor Acronis worked for us. Replay opened up the new markets to us completely. We can now go out and say, we’ve got a DR solution for you in AppAssure’s Replay."

"Traditional tape backup solutions are limited in their ability to adequately provide rapid recovery and business continuity especially for small and medium-sized customers," said Robert Amatruda, research director, Data Protection and Recovery at IDC. "Customers are demanding next-generation data protection solutions that streamline backup processes, reduce backup windows and protect their applications in the event of a server failure or a data center disaster."

AppAssure’s Q1 results display a continued market share growth as organizations replace their traditional tape-based backup products with Replay’s disk-based software solution, foroffsite in cloud-based recoveries. Increased focus on total application protection, fast disaster recovery and compliance from small-to-mid-sized businesses (SMB), in ways that eliminate the error-prone process of traditional tape-based backup solutions, continues to drive record sales and customer adoption.

In addition to revenue growth, Q1 2011
marked milestones for AppAssure including:

  • Sales momentum through MSP partnerships – Replay4 for managed service providers is available as a standalone software application or as an integrated plug-in to the Kaseya management console. Q1 saw significant sales penetration through its MSP channels.
  • Extended sales and marketing efforts in EMEA – During the quarter, AppAssure extended its sales and marketing staff and efforts to further its international growth in EMEA.
  • AppAssure’s Customer Support expanded to 24×7×365 – AppAssure extended its customer support capabilities to offer round-the-clock support 365-days-a-year to enhance responsiveness and availability for its customers.

"This was another exceptional quarter for our company," said Najaf Husain, president and chief executive officer, AppAssure. "We are seeing incredible demand for our innovative next generation backup and disaster recovery software solution fueled by the fact that we deliver higher value, more robust features and more simplified management for companies that need to protect their entire Microsoft Windows applications servers, not just the data. We are looking forward to continuing this success throughout the remainder of 2011."
